Six CAB members and 5 staff members attended the May 2003 meeting of the
UTMB Galveston AIDS Clinical Trials Unit Community Advisory Board (CAB).
· Gerianne Casey R.N. and Bill Silkowski R.N., ACTU study nurses, provided information and clarification on currently enrolling protocols, including A5132, A5170, A5093 and A5164 and failure studies.

Dr. Bell is serving as co-director of the ACCRP Clinic with Dr. Paar.
They will be holding meetings on Friday afternoons at 3 pm to discuss
outreach and patient educational needs and welcome CAB input at these meetings.
Dr. Bell asked for samples or copies of educational materials that CAB
members have seen and would like to see similar information available in the
ACCRP Clinic. Dr. Bell was informed
of the ACTU/CAB Outreach Subcommittee meetings held prior to CAB meetings and
was asked if she could attend these meetings for CAB input.
Dr. Paar had been invited to attend these meetings initially.
Dr. Bell plans to attend July Outreach meeting and asked that CAB members
send pamphlets or brochures to her prior to this meeting or bring to the
meeting. The need for Spanish
language educational materials was also brought up
· Dr. Bell also discussed changes in the ACCRP clinic, including the addition of Dr. Lau’s HCV/HIV co-infection clinic beginning the third week of June.

National HIV Testing Day, June 27, 2003, was brought up
by CAB members involved with local events.

Information was given out on the National Latino AIDS Awareness
Day, October 15, 2003.
·
Discussion was held regarding a collaborative lunch with community
members and the ACTU.
