Five CAB members, 2 staff members and 1 guest attended the July 2004 meeting of the UTMB Galveston AIDS Clinical Trials Unit Community Advisory Board (CAB).
Announcement of 3 protocols open or opening soon for accruals:
A5211 - Phase 2 of a new entry inhibitor.
A5178 - HCV/HIV co-infection study.
A5186 - Peripheral neuropathy treatment study using fish oil.
A5157 - Peripheral neuropathy treatment study using L-carnitine
The national ACTG meeting will be held the following week. Focus will be on site re-application. There is talk of reducing the number of ACTU sites by 1/3.
Carrie, our site protocol coordinator, has resigned to relocate to California.
Former member Denise, is now a member of the ACTU staff as Outreach Coordinator/CAB Liaison.
The group voted in a new CAB member.
Robert was promoted to CAB-Chair.
Members voted to review and revise the by-laws.
There is an opening for CAB- Co-Chair. Please email Robert if you are interested or would like to nominate another member for the position.
